3 HTML5 Apps
Zuck may have given up on HTML5 but the rest of us including Filepicker.io haven’t. We are BIG believers in the future of HTML5; both for web and mobile apps. That is why we are ardent supporters of the HTML5 Developer Conference on October 15th and 16th in San Francisco.
A week ago we announced the HTML5 contest to reinforce our commitment to developers building HTML5 apps. You can find details of the contest here.

Silk
Silk helps you generate colorful, interactive artwork in the browser. Built by Yuri Vishnevsky, a Rutgers student, Silk uses many features of HTML5: Canvas, Web Audio, data attributes etc.
Quoting switched.com- “After using your mouse to draw on his site’s ‘night sky’ — simply by connecting dots with lines — watch Vishnevesky’s whimsical program render your scrawl into complex, textured smoke-scapes of psychedelic hues.”
We liked silk because of the ‘cool’ factor and the sheer joy of generating dreamlike visual imagery like the one above. Go check out Silk.
Audiograph
Audiograph by Yohannes Kifle, a software engineer at Mozes Inc., is an editor for creating an audio graph. Its is a cool hack that uses Filepicker.io. Just drag a source node and connect it to the destination, maybe through other audio nodes, add various filters and listen to your creation.
It took us just a bit to figure out what was going on (documentation coming soon), but once we did we were blown away! We knew HTML5 had advanced audio processing capabilities, but seeing it live is incredibly impressive. Go check out Audiograph
CircuitLab
Circuitlab is building browser based electronics design software for engineers, students, and hobbyists. Circuitlab is in the similar space as Upverter, one of Filepicker.io’s customers.
Circuit lab’s circuit simulation engine is built and runs in 100% client-side Javascript, from the semiconductor device models to the sparse matrix algorithms. Circuitlab makes extensive use of SVG, Canvas, and localStorage technologies.
CircuitLab is pretty sweet. It’s hard to do, it’s full featured, and it works well. Go check out Circuitlab
One of the other really cool entries for the HTML5 contest was KontrolTV a HTML5 marketplace for TV apps.
The quality, variety and number of HTML5 apps that we saw during the course of the contest was impressive. Clearly, HTML5 apps are just getting started. If you are interested in hearing more about the future of HTML5 consider going to HTML5devconf on 15th and 16th October in San Francisco.
